Keep your StarSat receiver secure, stable, and performing at its best by using the correct software and following the upgrade steps below.
Use authenticated software only
Download receiver software only from the official StarSat website or an authorized StarSat support channel. Before downloading, confirm the exact model name and hardware version shown on your receiver label or in the System Information menu.
Important: Never install software intended for a different model or hardware version. An incompatible or modified file can cause malfunctions or make the receiver unusable.
Safe upgrade steps
- Confirm compatibility. Check the receiver model, hardware version, and current software version.
- Back up your settings. If your receiver supports backup, save your channel list and personal settings before starting.
- Use the official package. Download the correct software and follow any instructions supplied with it.
- Keep power stable. Do not switch off or unplug the receiver, remove the storage device, or interrupt the process while the upgrade is running.
- Perform Factory Defaults. After the upgrade finishes and the receiver restarts, open the settings menu and run Factory Defaults.
- Set up the receiver again. Restore or rescan channels and re-enter your preferred settings.
Why Factory Defaults matters
A factory reset removes settings left behind by the previous software version. This helps prevent conflicts and gives the new software a clean start for the best possible performance.
Please note: Factory Defaults may erase saved channels, favorites, network details, and personal settings. Create a backup first whenever your receiver offers that option.

StarSat software updates may include components provided under the GNU General Public License (GPL). The license notices included with each software package apply.
We strongly advise against downloading or installing unauthorized, modified, or unauthentic software. StarSat cannot accept responsibility for damage, data loss, service interruption, or misuse caused by software obtained from unofficial third-party sources.
